Aurora’s theme: Paramore - Ain’t it Fun
"Of course you can, come on!" He laughed, returning his attention to the controls as she finally stepped inside the ship. The door closed with a soft click behind her, and he couldn’t help but notice the scratches and cracks on the windows. He frowned, wondering if they’d be a problem. He started setting the new coordenates distractedly, and he suddenly realized he didn’t know where to go.
He looked at her out of the corner of the eye. Would she expect him to go to any specific place? It didn’t seem very likely, but he still had to be careful. He was still thinking about a destination obvious enough when he finally decided to answer her question.
"I don’t know. Maybe I wasn’t sure if it was really you. Maybe I want you to come with me" He looked at her with the ghost of a smile curling his lips "Would you like that?"
**Aurora just watched and listened to the man she loved more than anything. She was aware that this man isn’t her father; and yet, Aurora couldn’t not love the Doctor… both of them, equally. Finally she smiled, and her irises’ colors turned into slowly pink then lilac. She was so happy right now, that this Doctor wanted her to come with him.** - Y-you really want me…? - **Inquiered, she was uncertain. It was hard to believe, that this isn’t a dream. Aurora wanted his love a long time ago.** - Of course I would. You and me… time and space… this was always, what I wanted… to be with you, Doctor. - **Aurora bit his lower lip and looked away in embarrassment, as if she saw something very interesting on the wall. She didn’t dare to look at him, because she feared that this Doctor will reject her again as the other Doctors in the past, when she was honest and told them about her feelings. That she would wake up from this dream, but she didn’t want to.**
The truth was, he did believe her. The Doctor knew Rose wasn’t doing it on purpose, but this fact didn’t make the pain get smaller. Not a bit. And her words, the long speech that followed was even worse. Having Rose Tyler herself telling him she loved him again, just like that time in the beach. And again, he couldn’t do anything. Cause now this wasn’t his Rose. She was so close, yet so far away at the same time. Each time the word ‘love’ came out of her mouth, his hearts stopped beating for a fraction of a second, and they seemed to break into teeny tiny sharp pieces that were hurting him from the inside.
By the time his rose his eyes to look at the blonde’s face, tears ran down his face as he took a deep breath. But the Time Lord quickly wiped them out, and recovered himself.
"She is not with me, and that’s all you need to know." He answered, turning his back at her and focusing his attention on the console. "And if you want help to save your Doctor, I’ll help you. Cause it’s what I do, right? And also— I know how much you love him."
**It’s just so… so.. she can’t find words to describe, what she see. The Doctor was so shattered and provided a poignant sight, that she was able to do one thing: to comfort him at any cost. Suddenly, before he could even recovered himself; Rose ran to him and hugged him tightly to herself.** - I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I didn’t want to… - **Whispered brokenly, before she started to cry too. Rose is always sensitive to the environment, other people’s suffering will never leave her cold. She never stays insensitive to others, especially if her Doctor was involved.** - … please, forgive me Doctor! -
**But when he was spoken, she felt that she shouldn’t force the issue. Rose was surprised, when he changed his mind and wanted to help her.** - Doc… Doctor? - **Inquired him uncertainly.** - Can you? I don’t want to force you with this… this isn’t your job, you know? It’s my Doctor’s. If you… if you don’t want to help, I understand. But if you want to help me… help us, I will be forever grateful to you for it. -
"It’s not your turn to go!" He growled, trying to cover the wound with both hands. Blood ran through his fingers, turning everything red. Red.
Too red. Like a nightmare.
He stopped when he realized it was pointless. There was nothing he could do anymore. Would she regenerate? Did she have enough time? Would it work?
He couldn’t know.
"You can’t do it" He whispered, leaning forward to cup her face in his hands. He looked right into her eyes, trying to see what was there, if they really had time, if the energy was already rising behind her irises "I believe in you. You hear me? I believe in you”
NSFW! TW: character’s death!
Her first words made him wince. This felt like a joke. She couldn’t possibly be her; he was sure of it now. His ribs still ached from the impact, and he could feel his own breath hurting his throat, damaged from his own screams. The memory brought a grimace to his face, twitching his lips. No, he definitely was still alive.
"Go away" He drew away from her, returning to the interior of the TARDIS. He was ready to simply push her away and leave if necessary, but as she kept talking he stopped short, hands already on the controls, raising his gaze at her. Her words had caught his curiosity.
"No… I’m not your father" He repeated cautiously, frowning. It felt surprisingly wrong just to say that out loud; the idea was simply disgusting. But this girl wasn’t Aurora -not his Aurora at least, and yet she knew who he was. Could she be a trap? He decided to play along; find out as much as he could that way before changing tactics.
"Come in" He pulled a gentle smile. A gentle lie. He couldn’t help but wonder if she would trust him.
Some people won’t be happy, until they’ve pushed you to the ground. **Thought when the Doctor finally spoke two word, only two. But it was hurt the most for her. This refusal, that the Doctor continually rejects her; though he and his love is the only one, who she needs more than anything.** - I have no place to go. - **Sighed sadly, then she looked at him and their eyes met for a while before she would again stared in front of herself. Auror didn’t want to him see her tears.** - And I’m not your daughter, just her echo from the future… the Time Lady anomaly, the child of the TARDIS… - **The all Doctor in the parallel universes dismissed her, but now she got a glimmer of hope. She knew this smile of him very well, this was her fathers smile as well.** - Can I? I-I thought you want me to leave. What has changed, Doctor? What made you change your mind? - **Inquered, when she followed him without thinking. After all, Aurora trusted him; all her life his father was the only safe point after Rose’s death. And she couldn’t distinguish them from each other, after all they were the Doctor for her, both of them: her beloved father and his full Time Lord parallel self too.**
He felt her tense suddenly in his arms and didn’t even try to stop her when she drew away from him, too surprised to even try. He blinked several times, utterly confused and somehow hurt.
But he clenched his jaw and looked down at his hands almost immediately, understanding. He had been such a fool… There wasn’t anyone waiting for him anywhere, not even beyond the quiet darkness, the peace he had been looking for and -he knew know- hadn’t been capable to reach. Not even Death would be granted to him. The universe, cruel and mocking and so, so ingrateful, would deny him even that.
But in that case, what was she doing here? Unless it wasn’t really her.
"I swear, if this is a trick…” He snarled, showing his teeth.
**First Aurora was too happy to see him again and didn’t realized the Doctor isn’t her father.** - I missed you too, Dad. I thought that I’ll never get home. - **Whispered in his ear, when she hugged him; before she heared his double heartbeat. But then… She backed into the wall of the TARDIS and raised her hands defensively. She was terribly frightened by the Doctor’s reaction, her green irises’ colors have changed slowly white. Again an impasse and this hurts her so much. Aurora felt would never find her father and this feeling brought tears to her eyes. After he was spoken, she shook her head. Aurora has done so much to get home, but something goes wrong again. She tried not to cry, but it wasn’t easy now.** - No, it’s not a trick… I swear! But you have two heart like me… so you can’t be my father. You have no idea Doctor, how much I regret this. -
He wasn’t expecting anyone.
For some reason, that was the only idea that crossed his dull mind when he heard the beating on the door and opened his eyes, barely seeing anything above him through the red blur that obscured his vision. His thoughts were heavy, painful. Memories tried to make their way through his drowsy conscience, cutting the inside of his head like needles. Like nails. He didn’t want to remember.
There was a voice, too, and the Doctor tried to sit up instinctively when something deep inside him reacted to it. Aurora. It meant something. Maybe it was important. Aurora. But he didn’t want to remember.
He tried to stand up and stumbled forwards, falling on hands and knees. He crawled towards the door and managed to get on his feet, practically clinging to the wooden surface. There were no lights on around him; the interior of the TARDIS was dark, and the air itself felt strange and heavy. He leaned on the door, breathing deeply as his mind slowly began to go back to normal, and only then he opened it. The face that was waiting outside was too familiar to be real, so he assumed this was a dream; or death, if he was lucky. That thought brought recent memories to his mind: fire and despair, the agony of a dying nova surrounding his ship. He had flown the TARDIS through the flames, aiming for the burning heart of the star. Aiming for an ending. The Doctor took a deep breath, feeling his throat dry.
"Is this it?" He whispered, feeling tears well up in his eyes. There was little point in holding them. He stayed still for a moment, then let his lips curl in a shaky smile as he raised a hand slowly towards her. Aurora. His Aurora. She had come for him. In the end…
"I have missed you" He sighed, stroking her hair with his hand.
**Slowly she make a few tentative steps toward her father. Aurora wants his hugs, but don’t say it out loud. But when she reached very close to him, hesitantly extending her arms towards the other. Without a word, she embraced him, deeply inhaled his scent. It was comforting feeling, but when she heared his both heart beating Aurora is less relaxed. Then Aurora froze for a moment in his hug, when she realized the difference; then slowly she unfolded from the embrace and took a few step back.** - No! Y-you… you’re not… not my… - Dad. **She couldn’t finish the sentence. It wasn’t her dad, but maybe rather her Doctor or just an another one of the parallel Doctors?! She had no idea.**
